Today, my mom tried to ground me to act like she is white. She locked me and my sister in a room with a T.V, a phone, and let us go to the movies with our friends.

^ look who is talking here ... not that I really care about grammar but, past tense of "LET" is "LET" it self. Isn't it obvious that she/he is using past tense here? hint:*tried, locked*. on topic now: I have lived most of my life in one of the whitest area one can imagine and, I still haven't found out what grounding exactly is. I used to get spanked a lot by my dad though.

i think since most desi kids are not allowed to go anywhere with their white friends, they are already "grounded" or forced to stay home. that pretty much fulfills desi parents' wishes so they odn't care if their kids watch tv, or talk on the phone, because all they want is for their kids to stay at home, and thats it.
