YES! my white friends can barely understand all the stuff that goes on in my family and home. But when i'm with other muslim girls, i'm afraid i'm acting too american in front of them, so i know exactly what you mean =/

not really.....well i feel to white for my indian friends..cuz they call me the indian cheerleader but i fit right in wid my white friends...its just that sumtimes i start feeling homesick wid them if i hang out wid dem to much...i beging to miss my indian friends wid there funny stoopid indian jokes. :)

Yes! So much! I go to a college where there aren't too many desis. All of my friends are white, and sometimes if I want to tell them a funny story related to family, or whatever, I don't know where to begin because there'll be so much "desi" stuff I have to explain! On top of that, I loooove Bollywood movies way too much, and I'll never have anyone to talk about them with other than my parents. (which is never fun, because most of the time they just whine about how "movies were sooo much better in their day"

omg agreed with number 2... idk if ur an actuall indian cheerleader or if u just get called dta but i am an actuall indian cheerleader and ndns are fascinated by it lolz....especially the auntys... nd ya i do feel liek some times i am too american for my brown frnd even though i was born in india and lived ther for 9 yrs... but i fit rght in with my american frnds.. nd i tend to be frnds with whites b4 i am frnds with ndns even though i move round a lot

Haha, most of my friends are white actually, and when they get a tan they're darker than me. Any brown people i know aren't desi at all, which is probably a shame.

No. All my friends are desi, therefore i can't relate to the first part. and I dress white, but im pure desi on the inside, infact im more desi than all my other friends.

haha most of my white friends are like well they get that im like a total dork when it comes to indian stuff, and i dont really have many indian stories or anything, cause ive lived here for a while...and my indian friends are just as crazy as me...so kinda but i guess not...

My white girlfriend is knows quite a bit about Desi culture, so it's okay there. Other white friends... this is true. XD

OMG YES. Plus I'm half desi/ half gora so it makes for a weird identity crisis.

My best friends are all white girls/guys and I don't feel out of place unless one of my loud brown friends come and point out my browness in some way or other. There might be a desi population of like 50 from the 1100 kids that go to my high school. And pretty much all the brown girls (and like one brown guy) in grade 9 are my friends from middle school. But they are all Indian. There's one Pakistani girl but she's not muslim. So I feel out of place with them cause they all celebrate Diwali and I celebrate Eid. And I might hang out with my white friends too much that I forget how to joke about desis when I'm with my brown friends.

OMGGG yes! when i'm with my white friends, i'm considered one of the smart ones. when i'm with my desi friends, i get dirty looks because they're taking classes two grades above our level, and i'm taking one level higher. i feel out of place whoever i'm with though. i'm too white for my indian friends, and too desi for my white friends. *sigh* haha.

YEEES. all my white/black friends think i'm weird cause of my weird family and stuff but all my desi friends think i act waaaaay too white cause unlike them i'd actually rather SPEND money. :)

i feel too brown for my brown friends and too brown for my white friends as well.
