Today, I brought with me an Indian sweet to eat during break. One of my gori classmates started panicking before i put it into my mouth because she thought i didn't fully remove the aluminum foil. MLID.

LOL, I used to think it was aluminum foil too until my mom told me it's edible silver. I was so amazed by that discovery.

just so you know: traditionally prepared (made in India) warq (silver foil) is usually contaminated by Chromium, Lead and other assorted heavy metals. You really shouldn't be eating it. Scrape it off.

@mbd, it depends on where you buy it from.... if you buy it from the road, its probably more likely that the edible silver is contaminated, but if you buy it from a known store, its less likely to be contaminated. I've been eating indian sweets from good stores all my life that have edible silver, so it depends @desigurl2fly.

@mbd: My mom made the sweets herself using silver foil from a special sweet shop in India. Its supposed to be a good shop so i think it was fine. @ku5165: it was actually coconut bufi, you can put silver foil on any sweet not just kaju katris... :]
